Our sisters and brothers at Dayspring United Methodist Church in Tempe, Ariz., are grieving the death of their beloved senior pastor, the Rev. Dr. Jane Tews.
But Jane left them a wonderful gift – the sermon she delivered on June 2, just three days before she suffered a massive stroke that robbed her of her ability to communicate and led to her death June 22.
Jane, who spent the last 14 years at Dayspring, preached her final sermon on living each day as if it might be your last.
“When we are open and receptive to the Sprit’s presence, we are made so alive that we begin to live tomorrow today,” she said. “No longer do we look for some defining event or some future pleasure to settle and center our lives.”
